Young people learn cooking skills by doing

Posted

Area youth had an opportunity to participate in hands-on learning at Kemper County Extension's Fun with Food Day Camp, conducted by nutrition educator Mary Bennamon.

Participants engaged in learning experiences that taught them about food preparation and cooking techniques. That included learning to read recipes and measure ingredients.

The participants prepared the meal all while learning new culinary skills as well as the importance of physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.

The next Fun with Food Day Camp for youth in grades 4th-6th will be held on July 19 from 9 a.m. until noon. For more information or to register call your local Extension office at 601-743-2837.
