Supervisors approve purchase of boom truck

The Kemper County board of supervisors approved the purchase of a boom truck for the Bridge and Road department during their meeting on Monday.

Supervisors moved $160,000 from the in lieu fund to the Road and Bridge Department for the purchase of the truck.

In other matters, supervisors voted to:

•Approve the agenda, the claims docket and the county payroll;

• Approve a travel request for Joycelyn Robertson to attend the 2021 Mississippi Tax Assessors and Collectors Association’s 92nd convention in Oxford on July 11-15;

• Approve a travel request for Sherline Watkins to attend the Newton-Kemper County Regional Library board of trustees meeting June 23 at the Union library; and,

• Declare Monday, July 5, as a holiday in observance of Independence Day which falls on a Sunday this year.
