Lady Rams gearing up for North Half tournament

The Kemper Academy Lady Rams took the field Tuesday, and dropped a 13-7 decision to Calhoun Academy at home.

Kinsley Briggs was in the circle for the Lady Rams as she struck out four. The sophomore is the Lady Rams only pitcher and she performed well in the eyes of Coach Savannah Cawthorn. After the Lady Rams struggled early, Natalee Bozeman got things going with a huge two RBI hit. “Our team bounced off of her,” Cawthorn said as the Lady Rams were able to heat up the bats some more after her at bat.

However it was not enough for the Lady Rams to pull out the win. Cawthorn was happy with what she saw at the plate, as the Lady Rams are improving. Bozeman was 2-4 with a two-run double. Briggs also batted in two runs, going 3-4 at the plate. Avery Knight brought in a run on a sacrifice fly. Braylee Johnson also batted a run in along with Abigail Williams.

As the season is nearing an end, the Lady Rams are beginning preparation for the North Half Tournament in Senatobia on September 24. The Lady Rams have a doubleheader on Monday, as last Thursday's matchup was canceled due to a misunderstanding. The doubleheader will be at Sylva Bay Academy. The Lady Rams will then host their final home game on Wednesday against Heritage.
