Kemper Academy takes sweep over Hebron Christian

Both Kemper Academy basketball teams bounced back this week as they defeated Hebron Christian on Tuesday.

The Lady Rams de­feated Hebron, 50-36, with two players record­ing double-doubles. Syd­ney Wilson led scoring with 19 points, while also recording 12 rebounds. Behind Wilson was Tori Stennis who recorded 11 points and 15 rebounds. Avery Luke also had a double-digit rebounding game with 10.

Coach Betty Lynn Hag­gard was proud of the way all teams played Tuesday. “I was proud to see my seniors step up and lead their team,” she said. “The girls hit the floor with determination that they would bring home the win and that is what they did. Very proud of Tori and Sydney step­ping up and having career highs, both having double doubles.”

The Rams also won big Tuesday as they defeated Hebron, 65-39. Zane Knight recorded a dou­ble-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, how­ever scoring was led by Kix Wilson who scored 22 points and was a rebound short of a double- double. Haggard was very im­pressed with Colton Ky­nard’s performance as he scored 10 points and recorded eight rebounds. Eli Weaver also put on a big performance with eight rebounds.

On Thursday, both teams took tough losses to Starkville Christian. The Lady Rams lost 35-19. Scoring was led by Shadow Goodrich with seven and Sydney Wilson with four. Avery Luke recorded nine rebounds and six assists as Wilson had eight rebounds and five assists.

The Rams lost 44-33. Kix Wilson scored 18 points to go along with his eight rebounds and six assists. Eli Weaver led in re­bounds with 11 to go along with his seven points.

The Rams do not play over Thanksgiving break but will return on the 29th and travel to Pickens Academy. Haggard is looking forward to the rest of the season for her team.
