Kemper Academy boys claim two hoops wins

The Kemper Academy Rams earned two wins this week, while the Lady Rams earned one. 

The Week started last Tuesday when the Rams defeated Pickens Acad- emy in a nail-biter, winning 39-35. The Rams had a dif- ferent leading scorer this game as Zane Knight led with 15 points, five of those coming from the foul line. Kix Wilson was right behind however as he scored 14 points, with nine of those coming from the foul line where he shot 90 percent. 

Eli Weaver had a great game on both sides of the court, scoring eight points and securing nine re- bounds. Coach Betty Lynn Haggard was proud of the way Knight picked up the pieces on offense and helped lead the team to a win. 

The Lady Rams lost to Pickens Academy in a 32- 30 heartbreaker. Braylee Johnson accounted for half of the Lady Rams scoring as she scored 15 points. Haggard was proud of the way Johnson played both offensively and defen- sively. Sydney Wilson and Avery Luke each secured eight rebounds, with Wil- son adding seven points and Luke added three. 

Both teams lost to Grace Christian Thursday. The Rams lost 59-32 . 

The dynamic duo of Wil- son and Knight combined for 26. Wilson scored 14 and Knight added 12. Weaver had another great rebounding performance securing eight boards to 

go along with his four points. Knight also shared the ball well as he had eight assists. 

The Lady Rams lost 45-20 to Grace. Wilson led with six points and ten re- bounds to go along with five assists. Shadow Goodrich shared the ball well passing her way to an 11 assists performance. 

Both teams earned wins against Russell Christian. Wilson led with 20 points and five rebounds. Knight was close behind in scoring but completed a double- double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Weaver had his best game of the year 

on the boards, securing 18 rebounds to go along with six points. “I was im- pressed with the overall team play,” said Haggard, “ Everyone who hit the floor played to their best potential. 

The Lady Rams crushed Russell Christian 56-22. Johnson led with 16 points. Faith Wilson also added 7. Jeana Dudley grabbed ten rebounds as Sydney Wilson grabbed nine. The Rams will take a road trip this week travel- ing to Starkville Christian and Hebron before coming home to face Enterprise on Monday.
