KCHS Senior Night set for Tuesday

The Kemper County Wildcats and Lady Wildcats each took their first division loss this past Friday falling to the Newton Tigers.

The Wildcats fell to last season´s 2A runner up Newton Tigers by a score of 63-54. Lebron Johnson led the game with 13 points while Ben Winston helped out with 10 points of his own. The loss puts the Wildcats now at second place in the division.

The Lady Wildcats lost in even a closer game by a score of 55-49, after leading 30-27 at halftime. Robynn Jennings led with 15 points, with Rodezeah Smith adding nine. Neera Bell also scored eight.

Other than the loss to Newton on Friday, the Wildcats did earn an impressive win over district oppo­nent Nanih Waiya on Tuesday. The Lady Wildcats won by a score of 52-11. Neera Bell scored 13 while Zarayiah Moss scored 10. TyAsiah Bohannon added six. The Lady Wildcats led 35-6 at halftime. Both teams each scored five in the third bringing the score to 40-11. The Lady Wildcats scored 12 in the fourth and held the Lady Warriors to zero.

The Wildcats defeated the War­riors 77-41. The game started off close as the Wildcats only led 15-10 after the first. However the Wildcats ran off with the second quarter holding the Warriors to six and scoring 24. The Wildcats led 54-28 going into the fourth and closed the game with a 77-41 win, scoring 23 in the fourth. Alfred Love led with 14 while Kendetryon Backstrom and Cam Butler both scored 10. Lebron Johnson also added nine.

The Wildcats will travel to Lake on Friday and will host senior night against Newton on Tuesday.
