KCHS hoops squads undefeated in district play
The Kemper County basketball teams each advanced to 2-0 in district play as they both earned wins over Philadelphia on Friday.
The Lady Wildcats dominated, defeating the Lady Tornadoes 65-40. The Lady Wildcats started off hot only allowing 13 first half points opposed to scoring 40. The Lady Wildcats were outscored 13-8 in the fourth quarter but it was not enough to even come close to the Lady Wildcats.
Rodezeah Smith scored 17 points in the big win with TyAsiah Bohannon adding 14. Zariaha Moss, Seriah Little and Robynn Jennings each scored seven and Eryanna Brown scored six.
The Wildcats escaped the Tornadoes the other night in a 67-61 win. After leading by 20 going into the fourth, Philadelphia started to hit shots, outscoring the wildcats 28- 4.
Alfred Love recorded an excellent shooting performance, scoring 18 in the first half and finishing with 21, including seven three pointers.Adain Burrage scored 14 points with 11 points in the first half. Lebron Johnson and Cam Butler each scored eight.
The Wildcats will travel to Newton Friday for a district matchup and on Saturday will participate in the Bay Springs Classic. The Wildcats hosted district opponent Nanih Waiya on Tuesday. Those results will be in next week’s paper.
