Homemakers honored for service

The Kemper County Homemaker Volunteers are a busy group.
They give their time, resources and talents to the community and have fun in the process. Mississippi Homemaker Volunteers of Kemper County held their Annual Awards Tea to recognize outstanding work among its members.

The winner of the Club Scrapbook went to Ruby's Jewels. West Liberty Club received the award for Club Secretary Record book. Both awards were sponsored by JL White of State Farm in DeKalb.

Kyla Moore was named MHV Member of the Year. She is a member of the Scooba Club and she also serves as Council President. The Club of the Year award went to Scooba MHV Club.

Twenty-three individuals turned in documentation of their volunteer hours for a total of 10,365 hours. In 2019, volunteer time was valued at $25.43 per hour. This translates to a value of $263,581.95 in volunteer time for Kemper County. Volunteering provides individuals the opportunity to remain active members of their community and it has a lasting, positive impact on society at large.
