First Things First: Take time to check out the lake

Posted

The weather has been beautiful lately, which makes a drive out to Kemper Lake even more appealing that usual.

You may have heard a lot of talk about the lake that is located just north of DeKalb on Hwy 397, but have you paid a visit lately?

I took my 85-year-old mother on a drive last Friday, which included a quick drive through the lake property. She was amazed and couldn’t quit talking about how beautiful it is. As usual, my Mom was right.

If you haven’t gone out to the lake lately, how about putting together a picnic lunch and taking the family and/or friends to the facility this weekend? The view of the water through the trees is the thing award-winning photographs are made of.

We need to do more than talk about the lake, we need to take advantage of it.

It may not have everything you would like it to have now, but it never will if we as individuals don’t get involved and embrace its importance to the community.

Don’t let this opportunity pass you, or us, by.
