Fall Festival set for DeKalb Saturday

Posted

Three years ago Renee Grady went to DeKalb Mayor Clark Adams with the vision of putting together a community gathering that would have something special for both children and older adults.

The first year had moderate success, then last year COVID- 19 put a damper on things, limiting it basically to a Trunk- or-Treat for the Kids and a hay ride.

This year Grady is hoping the “Third Annual Fall Festival” set

for this Saturday at Keyes- McRae Park across from the post office in DeKalb will take things to the next level.

While the event is officially set to run between 2-5 p.m. and is when the activities for the children will take place, vendors are expected to set up around 11 a.m. and should be selling food by lunchtime.

“We are not sure how many vendors are coming, but we may have as many as 30,” Grady said. “We just don’t know.” There will also be inter- esting items for sale, as well as various food booths.

She said there would also be a limited trunk or treat as well as games for the kids. She said, just like last year, there will be a hay ride.

There is no cost for the activ- ities for the children.

She noted that masks were required for the event even though it is outdoors. “We just believe in being safe,” Grady said.
