CTE Recruitment: Ninth Graders Tour Vocational Complex
On Thursday, March 31 and Friday, April 1, John C. Stennis Career and Technical Center (CTE) hosted its annual recruitment drive for the ninth-grade class from Kemper County High School.
Over 100 ninth graders were on hand each day to tour specific programs that will be offered in the upcoming 2022-23 school year at CTE. The ninth graders were carried through tours of the following programs at CTE: Health Sciences, Forestry, Construction and Carpentry, Welding, Work-Based Learning, Teacher Academy and Law & Public Safety. Instructors offered counsel and hands-on demonstrations in order to spark student interest.
Counselor Roshunda Newton, Student Services Coordinator Brock Rogers, Work-Based Learning Instructor Leonardo Thompson and several high school teachers were on hand to guide all students their appropriate areas to tour. At the end of the tours, surveys were administered to all the ninth-grade students to determine what programs were of most interest to them.
The vocational center would be excited to have as many new ninth graders as possible for the upcoming year, and the center would enjoy having a large number of nontraditional students to enroll in the programs being offered. If you have any questions about enrolling for next year, or if you would like to take a look at what we have to offer at CTE, please contact Ms. Connie B. Johnson, CTE Director at 601-743-5226. We are looking forward to the exciting things CTE will have to offer for the upcoming school year!
