ALUMNI BASKETBALL GAME SET 

An Alumni basketball game will be held at Kemper County High School Gymnasium at noon on Saturday, Sept. 24. The teams will be “Old School” and “New School” will all proceeds going to benefit the Kemper County Middle School activities fun. Tickets are $3 and donations are welcomed as well. 

LYNVILLE SCHOOL REUNION 

The Lynville School Reunion, is set for Oct. 1, starting a 10:30 a.m. Anyone who ever attended Lynville School in Preston is invited. Registration at the door is $10. Lunch will be as usual. FREE BOOKS FOR CHILDREN 

Register your child now to receive a free book monthly until they reach the age of five by picking up a registration form from Kemper County’s libraries in DeKalb or Scooba, or by registerING on line at www.imagination library.com. Open the Register Your Child tab and enter in the information requested. Free books are provided by the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Foundation in partnership with the East Mississippi United Way and Partners of Kemper County for children who reside in Kemper County. BEAVER CONTROL COST-SHARE PROGRAM 

Applications are now being accepted by Kemper County SWCD for the Kemper County Beaver Control Cost-Share Program. The Mississippi Soil and Water Conservation Commission and the Kemper County Board of Supervisors have funded the program to aid non-industrial private landowners in beaver control. For more information or to make application, contact the Kemper County SWCD located in the NRCS Office, USDA Service Center, Daws Building, 197 Hopper Avenue, DeKalb, MS or call 601-743-9588, extension 3. 

SMALL BUSINESS ASSISTANCE 

The Mississippi Procurement Technical assistance Program helps businesses identify, computer for and win federal, state, and local government contracts. For more information check out the website at www.mscpc.com or contact Natalie Purvis at 601-934-5975.

Those wishing to have photos of their pets or livestock appear on the Kemper County Messenger’s Pets On Parade page sponsored by the Kemper County Animal Clinic an email them to starsportsboss@yahoo.com or office@kempercountymesssenger.com. They can also be sent by phone to 601-938-2471. Please send identification along with the photos. 

COALITION FOR A HEALTHY KEMPER COUNTY 

The Coalition for a Healthy Kemper County was organized to provide educational outreach. The goal is to bring educational awareness of health issues and unhealthy lifestyles that accompany diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, etc. We solicit the help of area leaders, organizations and individuals working together to make a positive impact on the lives of our community members.
