Kemper High School has received a donation of $18,000 earlier this year to assist with refurbishing of the high school library from Bioplate, Inc.

During a visit to the high school, Thomas Hopson, President of Bioplate, Inc. and graduate of Kemper County High School, saw an opportunity to give back to his Alma Mater. "I believe it is our responsibility help others who have aided in our success," Hopson said. "I was educated by this school district and have been blessed to be in a position to help out."

According to Kathi Wilson, principal of Kemper County High School, Hopson served as the keynote speaker for their African American History program back in February. "Mr. Hopson has an amazing story about his life that started in here in Kemper County," said Wilson. "We are always honored to have him speak to our students, faculty and staff and also thankful for his gift to our school."

Bioplate's donation was earmarked for upgrades of new carpet and furniture at Kemper County High School's Library.

"Although, I live in California, I am still connected to this school district," Hopson said. "I have two granddaughters who are enrolled in Kemper County School District and I wanted to help the high school with any project they were working on."

"It was an easy conversation with Mr. Hopson," Wilson said. "He asked about our budget for the library project, he sent a check for $18,000, and the rest is history. This is such a wonderful blessing, one too big not to be acknowledged."
