Woman faces multiple charges in weekend shooting

A Meridian woman has been charged with two felonies in the aftermath of a Saturday morning shooting that left her husband in stable condition in a Jackson hospital.

 

Kemper County Sheriff James Moore said that Dorthea Crowe, 32, is currently in the Kemper County Jail under a $50,000 bond on a charge of aggravated assault/domestic violence and a $25,000 bond on a charge of felony possession of a firearm. Moore said his department’s investigation following the shooting revealed that Crowe, whose address is listed as 107 71st place Apt. A117 in Meridian. had a previous felony conviction.

 

Moore said the victim, 41-year-old Kenneth Donell Crowe, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was treated by emergency personnel at the scene before being transferred to Jackson.

 

The shooting took place at 4:30 a.m. Saturday at a home at 386 Rosie Coats Road, according to the Sheriff’s office. Moore said that both the alleged shooter and the victim are residents of Meridian. He said that the shooting took place at the unoccupied dwelling of the victim’s relatives.

 

According to the investigation Dorthea Crowe, along with one of her relatives, drove to the house that morning where a confrontation took place between the alleged shooter and the victim. According to an eye witness Dorthea Crowe put the gun into her mouth and threatened to kill herself. At that point the witness left the room in order to go outside to get a cell signal to call law enforcement.

 

After hearing gunshots the witness returned inside the building to find Kenneth Donell Crowe had been shot.
