Wildcats set to visit KA Saturday

After winning one of three games last week, the Kemper County High School baseball team has a another tough challenge this week as the Wildcats visit Eupora for a region doubleheader today (Thursday), before visiting Kemper Academy for a 4 p.m. contest on Saturday.

The lone win of the week last week came on Thurs­day as the Wildcats scored nine runs in the first inning on the way to a 18-8 win.

Kendetryon Backstrom blasted a homer and drew two walks, while Kaleb Ball and two hits, three walks, two RBIs and scored three runs. Dicenzo Miller had a hit, was hit by a pitch three times, and scored two runs. Kaleb Jackson had two hits scored three runs and three RBIs. Jakylan Bourrage was strong on the mound, allowing just two hits over four innings on the mound.

The week opened for KCHS with a 14-4 loss to Kemper Academy. Back­strom, E.J. Jackson and Kaleb Jackson each had hits for KCHS, while Back­strom struck out three bat­ters on the mound and Miller five.

In the last game of the week the Tigers of Noxap­ater took a 10-7 win over the Wildcats. Backstrom had two this, scored two runs, and knocked in a run for Kemper County, while Kaleb Jackson had two hits, knocked in one and scored one. Miller had a hit, four stolen bases and two runs scored.

Ball struck out six and al­lowed just one hit in three innings of work on the mound.
