Terry Ann Key Creekmore

Terry Ann Key Creekmore was born to the late Raymond and Myrtle Key of the Keytown community on March 28, 1942. She passed away on May 10, 2021, at her residence in DeKalb, MS. At her request, there will be no formal service. 

Terry Ann was a 1960 graduate of DeKalb High School and a 1962 graduate of EMJC where she played the saxophone in the band. After graduation, Terry began her career as deputy clerk for Sheriff James Craig and later Sheriff Venie Craig. She was a county clerk in Tax Assessor & Collector’s office for Ms. Edna Lowery. After Ms. Lowery’s retirement, Terry ran for office and was elected 6 consecutive terms before retiring in 1999. She also worked as a rural mail carrier as a second career in Preston, Ms. Mrs. Creekmore was a very private, simple lady who loved spending time with her family and friends. 

She is survived by her husband, John M. Creekmore; one daughter, Dr. Jeri Cawthorn (Tony); two brothers, Tommy Key (Kathleen) all of DeKalb, and Gerald Key (Judy) of Russellville, AR; four beloved grandchildren Jaimie Calvert (Dereck), Jason Craig, Craig Cawthorn, and Chase Cawthorn (Savanah), one great-grandchild, Mary Catherine Calvert, all of DeKalb; one nephew, Dr. Chris Key of Russellville, AR, and one niece, Melanie Key of Forest, MS; and many beloved “yard” children as she affectionately called her neighbor’s children and friends of her children. 

Mrs. Creekmore was preceded in death by her parents and her son, James William (Jay) Craig.
