Supes extend mask order

The Kemper County board of supervisors extended its ordinance requiring the wearing of masks in county buildings and public places through January 4, 2021.

The vote came during the board’s Monday meeting and is in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. People are required to wear the protective masks in public for their protection and the protection of others from the dread disease.

In other matters, supervisors voted to:

• Approve the minutes for the month of November, the claims docket and the county payroll;

• Accept the meal log from the Kemper-Neshoba Regional Jail. Supervisors also approved the sheriff department expenses for November;

• Approve the circuit clerk’s request to seek an extension under the CTCL COVID-19 response grant;

• Approve an order to purchase a 2021 Dodge Ram 5500 truck for emergency management through the state contract process. Supervisors also approved the advertising for bids the back parts of the truck, including skid unit, bed, boxes and other items needed;

• Approve to pay $75 for membership dues in the Mississippi Associations of County Administrators and Comptrollers;

• Declare December 24 and 25, and December 31 and January 1 as holidays for county employees for Christmas and New Year’s; and,

• Table a request to pay Daniels Roofing Co. $1,288 for water tests and repairs at the Senior Citizen’s area. Supervisors also tabled a request from the Kemper County School District for a school bus turnaround pending a report from the county road foreman.
