The Kemper County board of supervisors set a public hearing for Friday, September 4, concerning the FY 2020-2021 county budget.

It will begin at 8 a.m. in the court house. Supervisors took that action Monday during their regular meeting.

Following the public hearing, supervisors are expected to pass the budget and set the tax rate. The budget will be published in upcoming editions of The Kemper Messenger.

In other matters, supervisors voted to:

-Approve the budget for the Kemper County School District for the next fiscal year;

-Approve a letter of support by the board endorsing Multi-County to be a part of the housing program, and giving the board president the authority to sign it;

-Approve the payment of annual dues in the amount of $50 to the Mississippi City/County Management Association; and,

-Approve September 7 to be observed as the Labor Day holiday.

Supervisors tabled a proposal to install a pivot door and side lites on an existing counter in the Justice Court office.
