Stringfellow stays organized, looks forward to bright future

If there is one thing Chantel Stringfellow has proven during her time at Kemper County High School is that she knows how to stay organized.

Stringfellow graduated from both Kemper County High School and East Mississippi Community College last month. She was the valedictorian at Kemper County and finished with a 4.09 grade point average. And she was an honor student at EMCC.

“My college credits also counted as my high school credits, too,” Stringfellow said. “In the fall, I will be attending Mississippi State University. I have already been admitted into the college of business as a junior.”

After college, she wants to get into the real estate business.

“I want to get started around here,” Stringfellow said. “But then I want to move to either Miami or Texas. There are a lot of houses there. Eventually, I want to be come a real estate broker.”

Stringfellow was born and raised in Kemper County. She attended the Kemper schools, starting in pre-kindergarten and going through her senior year. She is the daughter of Carolyn Stringfellow and Harry Stringfellow Jr.

Her favorite high school course was English. She enjoys reading and writing. Her favorite books are Fiction and Mysteries.

She was also active in sports. While in high school, she was on the basketball team, the volleyball team and the track team.

So how did she maintain her grades while also playing sports.

“I carried my books on the bus during road games,” Stringfellow said. “I sat in front of the bus and studied.”

Stringfellow enjoyed all three sports. In basketball, the Lady Wildcats made it to the semifinals of the Class 3A state playoffs and played in the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson where they were eliminated by Belmont.

“My best game in basketball came during my junior year,” Stringfellow said. “I scored 21 points against Quitman in a tournament.

“I enjoyed volleyball. It was our second year to play and we did pretty well. We didn’t make it to the playoffs but I thought we had a good season.”

In track, Stringfellow competed in the 400 meter run and the 4x400 meter and the 4x800 meter relay teams. She also competed in the Long Jump.

And this summer, there is no rest for the weary.

“I am enrolled in two classes at East Mississippi Community College, taking Micro Economics and Accounting II,” Stringfellow said. “I am also working as a second grade teacher’s assistant in summer school at Kemper Lower Elementary.”
