Street dedicated

The Town of Scooba’s Board of Aldermen voted during their April board meeting to rename Avery Street to James E. Granger Street.

Granger, who was a long term supervisor in Kemper County is also the pastor of Union Baptist Church that is located on Avery (now James Granger Street).

There was a ceremony in honor of the street renaming on the parking lot of Union Baptist Church on Sunday, May 9, 2020.

The event was well attended by local and state elected officials including Mayor Craig Nave, Senator Sampson Jackson, Representative Michael Ted Evans, and many other county officials.
