Sen. Sampson Jackson COVID-19 grant alert

Posted

I have become aware many of my constituents who own small businesses with 50 or fewer employees that were forced to shut down temporarily because of the coronavirus have not received or filed for COVID-19 relief money they are entitled to receive.

Anyone who has filed income tax any of the years from 2018 up to 2020 and own one of the following businesses should file a claim online at www.backtobusinessms.org.

• 4421: Furniture stores

• 4422: Home furnishing stores

• 4481: Clothing stores

• 4482: Shoe stores

• 4483: Jewelry, luggage and leather goods stores

• 4511: Sporting goods, hobby and musical instrument stores

• 4512: Book stores and news dealers

• 4531: Florists

• 4532: Office supplies, stationery and gift stores

• 4533: Used merchandise stores

• 4539: Other miscellaneous stores, including pet stores, art dealers and tobacco stores

• 5121: Motion picture and video industries

• 6116: Other schools and instruction, including fine arts, sports and recreation, and language

• 6244: Child day care services

• 7111: Performing arts companies

• 7112: Spectator sports

• 7131: Amusement parks and arcades

• 7139: Other amusement and recreation industries, including bowling alleys and golf courses

• 7225: Restaurants and other eating places

• 8121: Personal care services, including barbershops, nail salons and gyms

If your business does not fall into one of these categories and offers similar services to these businesses, I urge you to still file a claim. Some small businesses with 50 or fewer employees should already have received $2,000 checks, depending on whether you got assistance from the federal Paycheck Protection Program. Now MDA is awarding grants of $1,500 to $25,000 to those same businesses.

If you have difficulty applying for this money, please call me directly at 601-359-3232.

Sincerely, District 32 Senator Sampson Jackson.
