School Board Recognizes WorkKeys Students

At the regular meeting of the Kemper County School District Board, held this past Thursday evening, the following students were honored for scoring the Platinum Level on the ACT WorkKeys testing. They are: Adri­anna McGraw, Aareia Jenkins, Javon Gibbs, Angelique Dailey, Alfred Love, and Lashanti Har­rington. In today's environment the ACT WorkKeys program is extremely important in preparing youth to step into the job market. Students can score in four differ­ent levels of proficiency: bronze, silver, gold, and platinum which is the highest.

Elizabeth Clark of Butler Snow, LLP, met with the Board to dis­cuss the bond issue regarding the new elementary school, and the next steps forward and pre­sented the following forms for approval:

— Form of Indenture

— District Bond Purchase Agreement

— Bank Bond Purchase Agree­ment

— Taxable Preliminary Official Statement

— Tax-Exempt Preliminary Offi­cial Statement

— Taxable or Tax Exempt Gen­eral Obligation Bond- Sales Pa­rameter Bond

Resolution

The Board also approved the employment of the following in­dividuals:

— KCMS 8th Grade ELA Teacher- Ashley Lilly

— KCHS ELA Teacher- Marie-Suzanne Gheyri

— KCHS- Science Inclusion Teacher- Reico McCann

— KCHS Math Teacher- Michael Whitlock II

— KCHS ELA Teacher- Gail Whitlock

In other action, the Board:

— Tabled school board mem­ber evaluations of January 2021, and January 2022; the

school board attorney evalua­tion, and the superintendent's evaluation until a later date.

— Voted for approval of Claims Docket 154979-155159.

— Voted for approval to Pay Shortfall Note.

— Voted for approval of Monthly Financial Board Reports.
