RETIRED AFTER FORTY YEARS OF EMPLOYMENT

Posted

Joyce R. Grace of DeKalb retired after 40 years of employment. After graduating from West Kemper High School in 1976, I moved to California where I continued my education.

After graduating from associate technical college, I began to work at a convalescent hospital as a CNA. After leaving there, I joined the Inglewood Police Department and worked as a traffic officer. Later, I moved back to Mississippi.

I began working at the Child Development Center aboard the Naval Air Station in Meridian in November 1986 earning my CDA in Child Development. I remained there until I retired January 3, 2020. Serving 33 years there, they became my 2nd family. After I retired, I continued doing part time janitorial work for some small business.

My activities I like to do after retirement are: working in my yard and vegetable garden, helping take care of my 86 year old mom, taking care of my grandchildren, taking nature walks and shopping. I am the proud parent of three children and 6 grandchildren. My hobbies are cooking and collecting salt and pepper shakers, I currently have over 500 sets. I attend New Hope Blackwater Baptist Church.
