Reasons to Live in the South

Posted

The Southern region of the United States is known for its strong family values, traditions, and distinct culture. This region is called the South or Dixie, and it is one of the best places to visit or even live. What makes the South so special?  The following are some great reasons to live in the South.

*Southern Hospitality

The South is known for its open and friendly attitude. Most people from the North will tell you that they know when they enter the South.  Almost as soon as you hit the dividing line between the Northern and Southern states, you will begin to see hands waving and people smiling. Southerners are naturally friendly. They care about their neighbors, and they don’t often meet a stranger.

Southern Food

The South has its own unique blend of foods and spices. It has some of the best farm-raised catfish, crawfish or crayfish (for Northerners), frog legs and other seafood. They claim we fry everything. This is not true. There are a few things that we baked, boiled, and barbequed.

Historical beauty

The South is known for its historical beauty.  From famous governor’s mansions to ancient plantation homes to Civil War battlefields, the South is overflowing with historical beauty.

Southern Climate

The South has one of the best climates in the United States. The South has sunny skies and beautiful days. Temperatures can soar in the summer months, but the Southern winters are generally mild. This makes the South a great place to vacation during those freezing Northern winters.

So, if you are ever thinking that you need to move to find greener pastures or sunnier skies, remember that the South is a great place to live. The South is alive with beauty and rich in history.  It is also a place where neighbors are really neighbors, and you can find some of the best food in the world right here.
