Pink Ladies encourage Breast Cancer awareness

Kemper County Mississippi Homemaker Volunteers hosted Think Pink Day at the Pilgrim’s Foodliner grocery store in DeKalb on October 24 by handing out educational material on Breast Cancer to the women who visited the store and provided them a pink bags of various treats to enjoy while reading the educational material.

"It's very important to educate women about breast cancer and provide with the need to take steps to schedule an appointment with their doctor to get a referral for a baseline screening in for early detection of the cancer,” said Loretta Hulin. Each year, the month of October is set aside to encourage women to learn how to do monthly self-checks, obtain educational material on breast cancer, and to talk with their doctor for additional information.

Fifty bags were distributed that day.
