For the fourth consecutive year DeKalb Mayor Clark Adams is sponsoring a free Thanksgiving meal for local citizens.

The event will take place at noon on Saturday at his building located across from the Commercial Bank in DeKalb and will last until the food is gone.

“It’s just something we started because we wanted to do something positive for the community,” he said. “Several people help out with it each year and the food is served by the Phi Zeta Kappa sorority. They are very involved in the community and they do a good job of helping to make this happen.”

The meals came be picked up and taken home. “We were eating here, but things had to change after COVID,” Adams said.

He also said that the food would be delivered to senior citizens who could not make it out to pick up the food.

“It’s just about doing the right thing and helping other people,” Adams said. “We are hoping that everyone will come out and get a good meal. We want to show everybody what kind of community we are.”
