Lady Wildcats take two division wins
The Kemper County Lady Wildcats earned two huge wins this week in the division.
The first came over the Newton Lady Tigers, who the Lady Wildcats defeated 58-48. The Lady Wildcats dominated in the first two quarters leading 32-22 at halftime. However the Lady Wildcats struggled in the third, as the a lady Tigers cut the lead to 38-34.
The Lady Wildcats fought back to take the 10 point win on Tuesday. Robynn Jennings scored 15, with Neera Bell scoring 13. Erryanna Brown scored 11, while TyAsiaha Bohannon scored eight.
Later in the week, the Lady Wildcats crushed the Philadelphia Lady Tornadoes, 56-36. Kaylan Clayton scored 14, while Rodezeah Smith scored 11. Jennings scored 10 and Zariyah Moss and Bell each had seven.
The KCHS boys fell to Newton, after starting slow in the first half, down 13 at the half, it was not enough to catch up to the Tigers, losing 73-49. Lebron Johnson led with 14 points. Aidan Bourrage scored 10 points while Alfred Love and Ben Winston each scored eight.
The Wildcats also dropped a tough overtime game to Philadelphia, 49-46. The wildcats were led in scoring by Johnson with 12 points.
The Wildcats finished their regular season against Columbus this week and will participate in the district tournament at Philadelphia High School next week. Matchups are to be determined, however the Wildcats will likely face Philadelphia.
