This past week the Kemper County Lady Wildcats gained their first win of the season over West Point, by a score of 40-31.

Eryana Brown led the offense with 14 points, while Rodezah Smith had nine. Zariyah Moss added six to the Lady Wildcats’ total. Kaylan Clayton and Rotagun Hopson led the defense with four steals each.

The Lady Wildcats lost their first game to Union, 42-35. In that game, Brown scored eight and Smith scored seven. Clayton and TyAshia Bohannon each added six to the total.

Lady Wildcats Coach Ronnie Slaughter says cutting down on turnovers will help in preparing for this week's games.

The Kemper County boys team played one game against West Point and lost 53-50.

Head Coach Michael Stringer was proud of the way his team played, despite having only eight players. In the game, Tykeveon Steele scored 10 points, with Cadre Hampton close behind with nine. Stringer says the addition of football players after playoffs will help the Wildcats with depth as they struggle with that now.

The Wildcats will host Choctaw Central on Thursday before facing Madison St. Joe on Saturday.
