Kemper County School District is excited to announce Thomas “Freddy” Thomas has been named 2021-2022 Teacher of the Year by Mississippi Department of Education’s Department of Career and Technical Education.

Thomas is a 24-year teaching veteran as a Welding Instructor for John C. Stennis CTE and past teaching experience with East Mississippi Community College. Students have an opportunity to learn valuable trade skills when taking his class.

“First of all, Mr. Thomas is a top notch person. He is first class in all that he does,” said Hilute Hudson, Superintendent of Kemper County School District. “He has exemplary work ethics and he cares about quality work and his students. Those traits are hard to find. He wants his students to succeed in life. He doesn't look at teaching as a job, he looks at it like he is giving back to our community.”

Thomas also serves as Softball Coach and instructor for SkillsUSA for the district.
