Kemper County High School Coach misses game

Kemper County High School head football coach Ray Westerfield was not on the sidelines in Macon on Friday night for his team’s 22-14 loss to Noxubee County High School.

When contacted about the situation, Kemper County Schools Superintendent Hilute Hudson said he “couldn’t confirm, deny, or comment on any personnel matters.”

He did say that assistant coach Dicenzo Miller assumed the head coaching responsibilities for KCHS during the game against Noxubee, but said the decision had not been made as to who would be handling those duties this coming Friday night, if the need arises.

KCHS, which is undefeated in region play, is set to pay a visit to Newton High School on Friday for a 7 pm. contest.

“The coaches and players are working hard and getting prepared for the game,” Hudson said. “We have got a next man up mentality.”
