First Things First

Keep on creating problems, please!

The public’s response to the Kemper Messenger’s new look and re-energized mission has most certainly caused us a boatload of problems, and we are thankful.

We went from being a four-page paper to a 16-page one overnight and to be honest we still have more stuff than we can get in some weeks. What a great problem to have! It’s mostly because of you and your interest in the product. Each week more and more items are submitted and it causes us to have to make adjustments on the fly.

One of the keys to the newspaper’s sustainability over time is going be the fact that the Messenger must continue to be about the people and for the people. It is truly exciting when photos, stories, or columns are submitted. That truly makes it a community newspaper.

We have had another wonderful issue arise — people are eager to subscribe once again. That has caused us some issues because we are in the middle of changing things over from the old ownership to the new and things are still being worked out on our end. The learning curve has been a steep one for sure.

Be patient with us, we are getting it done one step at a time. By the end of the year we hope to have circulation totally in our hands, which will make things easier to maintain properly.

If you or someone you know have been having trouble getting their paper delivered please call Morgan at 601-743-5760 and we will get it straightened out. Customer service is our top priority.

The most important things you can do to ensure that the Kemper County Messenger continues to grow and improve is to tell people about the improvements and encourage them to subscribe themselves. Let the local stores that you patronize know that you would like to see their ads in the paper. Also, keep sending those photos and stories. Keep letting us know what is going on the community, and above all continue to be patient.

Be sure to hang on, it’s going to be a wild ride for sure.
