KCHS track team continues to impress

The Kemper County High School boys and girls track teams both had strong showings against bigger schools once again, with a stellar performance in the Golden Triangle Showdown hosted by Columbus High School last week.

This Tuesday, KCHS was to have competed at Velma Jackson.

Hinds Community Col­lege signee Brynesha Bourrage took first place in the girls 400 meter run, while she joined Kaylan Clayton, Zariyah Moss, and Jashunti Bourrage to take gold in the 4x200 meter relay.

Precious Stone, Moss, Brynesha Bourrage and Jashunti Bourrage also won the 4x400 relay event. Clayton took third in the 100 meters, while Moss was third in the 400 meter event.

Ezekiel Smoot was first in the 400 meter dash for the Wildcats, while KCHS took a pair of gold medals and a second in the relay events.

The 4x200 meter team of Jamari Scott, Aaron Steele, Smoot, and Alex Roberts took gold, as did the 4x400 team of Smoot, Marquez Patty, Michael Brown, and Steele. The 4x800 team of Shakanye Darden, Benequez Win­ston, Anthony Reed, and Brown claimed second.

Darden was second in the 800 meter event, while Steele was third in the 100 meter dash. and Reed was second in the 1,600 meter run.
