KCHS hoops squad face tough opposition

The Kemper County Wildcats struggled this past week in basketball with both teams going winless over the break.

The Lady WIldcats lost to Columbus 71-35. Neera Bell led the Lady Wildcats with 11 points. Zariyah Moss scored seven as Eryanna Brown added six to the total.

Later in the week the Lady Wildcats struggled against powerful Choctaw Central, losing 55-33. Robynn Jennings led with 11, as Bell added eight.

The KCHS boys also struggled this week losing three games to very good teams. The first loss came to Columbus by a score of 73-41. Lebron Johnson and Ty Steele each scored 12 to lead the Wildcats. Jamar Grace also added eight points to the total.

Against Meridian, the Wildcats lost 68-30. Johnson scored 10 with Grace adding six. The Wildcats ended the week losing to arguably the best team in the state, Choctaw Central, 61-29. Johnson scored 10 with Grace scoring six.

The Wildcats matchup against Southeast Lauderdale scheduled for Tuesday was postponed to another date.
