Horne named Rams’ new head coach

LaQuintis Horne has been named as the new head football coach at Kemper Academy.

Horne was able to work with the players over the summer. Fall practice started Monday. Horne said he had 15 players out as the Rams prepare for their 2020 season.

Horne is from Noxubee County where he played high school ball. He played college football at East Mississippi Community College and later played football at Pikeville College.

Horne coached for several years in the Kemper County youth football association where he first met some of his current players. He coached on the varsity level at Kemper County High School from 2014 until 2019,

“I am looking forward to this opportunity,” Horne said. “I am very appreciative of the people who have helped me. I am looking forward to the season.”

The Rams open the season August 21 at Wilkinson County Academy. They will host Sharkey Issaquena in their home opener on August 28.
