Homemakers thinking Pink

The Kemper County Homemaker volunteers held their annual “Think Pink” event on October 20th.

Due to Covid-19, the event was conducted as a grab and go. MHV members set up in front of Pilgrim’s Foodliner in DeKalb to distribute the bags. The bags contained information about breast cancer, as well as, mask, hand sanitizers and other goodies.

Rush Health Systems and Beverly Knox, Project Manager for the Tobacco Free Coalition of Noxubee, Kemper, and Neshoba counties partnered with MHV and Kemper County Extension to provide health information and items to go in the bags.

The goal of this annual event is to raise awareness in the community about the importance of breast cancer screening and early detection.

“Early detection saves lives. We want everyone to Think Pink,” said Malikah Jones, MSU Extension Agent and County Coordinator.
