Hard-fighting Rams look to close out season strong

While the Kemper Academy Rams football team had a bye week this past week, they are looking to win their final two games when they take Ben’s Ford Christian, and West Memphis Christian.

The Rams have one win to their credit thus far, defeating Discovery Christian, in what Coach Michael Dawkins says is the only team close to his team's size that they have played.

“We are taking big losses,’ Dawkins said. “We are also playing people who should not be playing eight man”. I have a few kids who are 127 pounds having to hit a 330 pound guy, who is 6-foot-3. Despite the multiple losses this season, the Rams have fought hard all season.

“These kids don’t quit”, Dawkins said. “ They don't have quit in them. They're a good group of kids and they are gonna try their best every week.”

Quarterback Eli Weaver is ahead of all stats as he leads the offense and plays middle linebacker on defense. Dawkins had good things to say about the whole team, including his seniors, Eli Miles, Landon Dixon, Alex Ferrel, and Brody Barefield. “They have improved a lot,’ said Dawkins. “I have some good leadership from the seniors”.

The Rams look to continue to improve as they travel to Bogalusa, Louisiana, to face Ben’s Ford this Friday, and will host West Memphis in their final game the following week.
