Coach Betty Lynn Haggard is back for her second season back as the Kemper Academy basketball coach. Haggard is looking to bring winning basketball to KA.

“My goal is to win,” Haggard said. She looks forward to returning five starters to her girls team, as she says they are knowledgeable of what she expects. Haggard expects Shadow Goodrich and Avery Luke to share the point guard responsibilities.

She is excited to see Braylee Johnson show her outside shooting improvement, and is very excited about her two incoming freshmen Faith Wilson and Jeana Dudley who will see a lot of playing time splitting 6 quarters of JV and Varsity.

She is also excited about the boys team. Haggard shared a lot of good things about a lot of the guys, but said she expects her MVP from last season, Kix Wilson, to have a great year. “I can only imagine it will be better this year,” says Haggard.

Haggard is looking to play small ball when it comes to the boys team. “We do not have a lot of size,” says Haggard, “However Haggard expects to use her team's speed to make up for it.

The Rams will open their season tomorrow (Friday) as they face Columbus Christian at home, then on Monday will travel to Enterprise for their first road matchup.
