Fun Activities for Kids During Summer Break

Posted

School is out, and your kids are excited. However, the novelty can quickly wear off. There are some things that you can do to help your kids busy during the summer break.

Art

Art projects are a great way to keep your kids active this summer. These projects can be as simple as drawing or painting pictures. You might even want to let them create beautiful wind chimes or even bird houses.

Library trips

Make the library an important summer trip. Your children can check out a wide variety of books, magazines, and even movies at their local library. Reading during the summer break will help to keep their reading skills up, and it could introduce them to new vocabulary words. Simple be sure to follow CDC guidelines.

Photo journal

Bugs…insects…Fourth of July fireworks…trips to the zoo or our local walking park can all provide wonderful photo opportunities for your children this summer. These fun, summer memories can be turned into a Summer Photo Journal.

Movie fun

Turn that trip to the movies into a learning experiment. Have your child write his or her own movie review. They can even send these reviews to your local newspaper.

Writing Contests

Host writing contests for your kids and their friends. You can challenge them to compose a poem a day this summer or you can challenge them to write their own book or short story.

Don’t let your kids become the victim of The Summer Boredom Blues. Give them fun and meaningful activities to do.
