CTE students share holiday spirit with others

Posted

The holiday season has the power to bring people together and uplift them in spirit. At CTE, our students and faculty wanted to do just that by getting together with each other and those in the community to uplift the spirits of others by giving back for the Christmas holidays.

Some of our student organizations participated in various community service projects throughout the month of December. Our welding department’s Skills USA student organization, headed by Thomas F Thomas, CTE’s welding instructor, along with our Work-Based Learning program, headed by Mr. Leonardo Thompson, gave back to the community by sponsoring a Toy Drive. They received lots of new toys to be distributed by the Department of Human Services in DeKalb.

Our National Technical Honor Society student organization also contributed to spreading holiday love and cheer. NTHS, headed by Roshunda Newton, CTE’s counselor, sponsored a School Supply Drive, as well as gave donations of various personal care items to the residents of the Mississippi Care Center of Dekalb. We all, truly, appreciate everyone for their donations and helping us at CTE spread love to others this holiday season.

Students of the month were: Tyler Hickman (Forestry), Taylor Grace (Construction), Reslyn Ramsey (Teacher Academy), Cadre Hampton (Law & Public Safety), Tasharra Johnson (Work-Based Learning), Devin Bourrage (Welding), Erryon Hall (Health Science).

Brock Rogers, Student Services Coordinator was Employee Of The Month.
