3RD ANNUAL FALL FESTIVAL

 

Community First KC and Red & Son's Detail presents the 3rd Annual Fall Festival, Oct 23 at 2pm-5pm located at the Keys and McRae Park (across from the Post Office) in DeKalb. MASK REQUIRED, vendors welcome, truck or treat, and lots of fun for kids.

 

HERITAGE DAY

 

HERITAGE DAY is a fun day for young and old! Support and enjoy our local Historical Museum on SAT. OCT 30, 11-1. BBQ sandwich with drink and chips, $6. Bake Sale too! Music outdoors with good weather, lawn chairs welcome!

 

RAILROAD MUSEUM TOUR

 

On Heritage Day, Saturday, October 30th the DeKalb Regional Model Railroad Museum will be open from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Come by for a visit.

 

2021 ANNUAL WHITEHALL CHURCH BAZAAR

 

The 2021 Annual Whitehall Church Bazaar will be held on Saturday, October 30th. A new time schedule will be used this year with a start of 10:00 AM and ending at 2:00 PM. Due to the pandemic, this will be an outside only event. Masks are highly recommended. Proceeds from the bazaar are split with 60% going to the church mission fund and 40% going to the church building fund.

 

For a sneak peek of items please visit the Whitehall Church Bazaar Facebook page. Furniture, crafts, ceramics, Christmas décor, nativity sets, ornaments, birdhouses, vintage items, wreaths, spring yard art, baked goods, frozen casseroles, dips, a lemonade stand, and more will be offered. A popular bargain hunter’s area will be available with prices set to move all goods.

 

In the event of rain, the bazaar will be moved to Saturday, November 6th.

 

Whitehall Church is located at 10595 Highway 14 West near Louisville. All are welcome to attend the bazaar as well as worship services on Sunday. Sunday School begins at 10:00 while worship services begin at 11:00. Brother Mike Dowd is the pastor. For further information please call 662-803-8222.

 

MERIDIAN CHAPTER OF MSU ALUMNI MEETING

 

The Greater Meridian Chapter of Miss. State University Alumni will have their virtual meeting Thursday, Nov. 4th, 2021 beginning at 5:00pm. All alumni in Meridian and surrounding counties are asked to participate as we continue to discuss and plan important events pertaining to the chapter and university. Every 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month from 8am-1pm at Bizzy Bee's. Free vendor setup. Selling anything from food, snow cones, household, crafts, and much more.

 

FREE BOOKS TO CHILDREN UNDER 5 YEARS OLD

 

Kemper County is a participant in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program providing a free book mailed monthly to the child in the child’s name from birth until the child reaches the age of five. This project is sponsored by the United Way of East Mississippi, the Strasser Family Foundation and the Partners for Kemper County, Community Foundation of East Mississippi. To enroll your child on the website enter uwem.org and click on Impact Programs Imagination Library or imaginationlibrary.com and select the “PARENT” tab located at the top of the web page. Registration cards may also be picked up at the Kemper County Library or the Kemper County Economic Development Authority office during normal business hours. A FREE educational program is being offered to help moms-to-be learn how to make healthier choices for themselves and their baby. KEMPER COUNTY SOIL & WATER CONSERVATION DEISTRICT ANNOUNCES BEAVER CONTROL COST-SHARE PROGRAM

 

Applications are now being accepted by Kemper County SWCD for the Kemper County Beaver Control Cost-Share Program. The Mississippi Soil and Water Conservation Commission and the Kemper County Board of Supervisors have funded the program to aid non-industrial private landowners in beaver control. COALITION FOR A HEALTHY KEMPER COUNTY

 

The Coalition for a Healthy Kemper County was organized to provide educational outreach. The goal is to bring educational awareness of health issues and unhealthy lifestyles that accompany diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, etc. We solicit the help of area leaders, organizations and individuals working together to make a positive impact on the lives of our community members. JRMWV PROGRAM

 

Junior Master Wellness Volunteer Training Recruitment going on now. We are looking for youth 14-18 years old to join us for an exciting volunteer program.

 

The JrMWV Program is a community health education and volunteer leader training program. Youth will learn about improving health literacy and healthy lifestyle choices

and will then go out into their community and become an advocate for a healthier Mississippi! Participants will be expected to give back by completing 24 hours of community service.

GARBAGE BILL PAYMENTS

 

Attention: ALL KEMPER COUNTY LANDOWNERS effective January 1, 2021 all garbage bill payments must be taken at the Commercial Bank located in DeKalb, MS (in-person) please have account number.

 

The Kemper County Courthouse will no longer be accepting garbage payments.
