PROGRAM

Quick Bites programs are offered through the Mississippi State University Extension Service and provide information on varied topics over interactive video. PRAYER BREAKFAST

The Kemper County Chamber of Commerce will host its annual free Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, February 13. The breakfast will be held in the Barney Brown Senior Center, at 7 a.m. Please join us as we start a new year with prayer and fellowship. For information contact Faye Wilson 601-743-5060



SIMMONS RIDGE BAPTIST CHURCH BLACK HISTORY

PROGRAM

The pastor and members of The Simmons Ridge Baptist Church are inviting you to come and be with them as they celebrate their Black History Program. This program will take place, February 16 at 2 p.m. with Rev. James Young, pastor of Calvary Apostolic Church and along with his church family.



KEMPER 4-H SAFETY SHOOTING MEETING

Kemper 4-H SAFETY (formerly shooting sports) has scheduled a safety meeting for 4:00 p.m., Monday, Feb. 17 at the Sheriff's Department in DeKalb. This is a mandatory meeting that all Kemper 4-H Shooting Sports members must attend. If you are interested in joining Shooting Sports there is still time to sign up before the meeting; however, after this February 17th meeting Kemper 4-H Shooting Sports registration will close. Members have the choice of participating in rifle or pistol disciplines. Members participating in rifle and pistol will need to bring their firearms to the meeting, unloaded and in a case. 4-H SAFETY is a program that strives to teach 4-H'ers the safe and responsible use of firearms and promote the highest standards of safety, sportsmanship and ethical behavior. Members will have practice sessions at a local shooting range with certified instructors. Members will also have the opportunity to compete in regional and state competitions to be held in 2020. GOD CARES MINISTRIES CHURCH ANNIVERSARY

Beginning February 28, 29, and culminating on Sunday, March 1, will be the annual Church Anniversary. Bishop Zachary Operton of Prince of Peace Christian Fellowship Church in Meridian, MS will be the guest speaker on Friday night beginning at 7 p.m. Apostle Annie Cross of I Care Ministries in Chicago, IL will be guest speaker for Prayer Breakfast on Saturday at 12 a.m. Bishop Effell Williams of Tabernacle of Praise Church in Selma, AL will be the guest speaker on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. Annie Brown, Pastor of God Cares Ministries.



ADULT JIGSAW PUZZLE

Adult Jigsaw Puzzle meet-up every 3rd Friday from 2-4 p.m. beginning January 17th at Kemper County Extension Office located at 587 Old Scooba Road in DeKalb.

Join us for some jigsaw making in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Jigsaws will be provided and you can drop in for as long or as little as you like.

4-H County

Leadership Team

Youth ages 14-18 who want to build their leadership abilities are invited to serve as members of 4-H Leadership Team. This group will meet once a month at the Kemper County Extension Office. Members will help promote the 4-H program through public speaking, preparing and manning exhibits, emceeing programs, organizing and/or teaching 4-H events and workshops. Members will also help plan and participate in numerous 4-H and community service events throughout the year. There are also opportunities to apply for leadership roles at the state level. KEMPER COUNTY SOIL & WATER CONSERVATION DEISTRICT ANNOUNCES BEAVER CONTROL COST-SHARE PROGRAM

Applications are now being accepted by Kemper County SWCD for the Kemper County Beaver Control Cost-Share Program. The Mississippi Soil and Water Conservation Commission and the Kemper County Board of Supervisors have funded the program to aid non-industrial private landowners in beaver control. Kemper County is a participant in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program providing a free book mailed monthly to the child in the child’s name from birth until the child reaches the age of five. This project is sponsored by the United Way of East Mississippi, the Strasser Family Foundation and the Partners for Kemper County, Community Foundation of East Mississippi. CUB SCOUTS SEEKING SCOUTS

Pack #4 of Kemper County Cub Scouts is looking for interested individuals (boys and girls) from the ages of six year olds to twelve year olds that are interested in scouting. Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. at the Barney Brown Senior Citizen Building. Point of Contact: Billy J. Rush, Cub Master.



4-H SHOOTING SPORTS VOLUNTEER

RECRUITMENT

Kemper County 4-H Shooting Sports will soon be gearing up for another year. Through the 4-H Shooting Sports program youth ages 8-18 are given the opportunity to learn responsibility, sportsmanship, self-discipline, and other qualities critical to the development of productive citizens. We are currently seeking volunteer instructors in archery, shotgun, rifle and pistol. Training opportunities will be available in January. Adults 21 years of age or older must pass a background check and submit an application.
