VETERANS OFFICE CLOSURE 

The Kemper County Veterans Service Office is closed until further notice. Veterans and/or surviving spouses needing information and/or assistance with VA Claims can contact the following : Lauderdale County Veteran Service Office at 601-482-9811 or Neshoba County Veteran Service Office at 601-656-4531.Both offices are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. 

LYNVILLE SCHOOL REUNION 

The Lynville School Reunion, is set for Saturday, starting a 10:30 a.m. Anyone who ever attended Lynville School in Preston is invited. Registration at the door is $10. Lunch will be as usual. Hope to see you the first Saturday in October. 

DEADLINE FOR CALENDAR ITEMS 

The deadline to submit items to run in the weekly Community Calendar that appears on the community page each week is Friday at 5 p.m. for the following week’s publication. To submit an item for Community Calendar you can e-mail the information to office@kempercountymessenger.com, starsportsboss@yahoo.com, bring it to the office during regular business hours, or call 601-743-5760 

WOMEN’S CIVIC LEAGUE GARAGE SALE 

Adult, children’s, and baby clothes, baked goods, kitchen utensils,, glassware, art and much more will be available at the Women’s Civic League garage sale on Friday, Oct. 7 at the Kemper County Courthouse Square in DeKalb. The sale will be from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. 

FALL FESTIVAL SET FOR OCT. 15 

There will a Fall Fest, hosted by CommunityFirst Kemper County and Red & Son’s Detail on Oct. 15 from 1 a.m. util 5 p.m. There will be Live Music, food truck, and fun and games. Those interested in setting up as a vender at no charge should contact Tammy Johnson or Redandsons Detail on Facebook messenger ASAP. 

PET PHOTOS REQUESTED 

Those wishing to have photos of their pets or livestock appear on the Kemper County Messenger’s Pets On Parade page sponsored by the Kemper County Animal Clinic an email them to starsportsboss@yahoo.com or office@kempercountymesssenger.com. They can also be sent by phone to 601-938-2471. Please send identification along with the photos. 

FREE BOOKS FOR CHILDREN 

Register your child now to receive a free book monthly until they reach the age of five by picking up a registration form from Kemper County’s libraries in DeKalb or Scooba, or by registering on line at www.imagination library.com. Open the Register Your Child tab and enter in the information requested. Free books are provided by the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Foundation in partnership with the East Mississippi United Way and Partners of Kemper County for children who reside in Kemper County.
