Casey excited to expose Kemper County to high school soccer
Former MSU Bulldog and professional soccer player Betty Casey opened her first full season as KCHS head soccer coach, after the Wildcats did not play the previous season due to Covid-19. Casey previously coached at Southwest Community College before she landed at Kemper County.
Casey is very passionate about the sport as she says, “Soccer is such a facilitator to many different things. it helps to problem solve. It gives the students an outlet.”
“ It gives them not only an opportunity to grow on and off the field but gives them an opportunity later in life,” she said. Casey wants players to have an opportunity to play at the next level as they have skills they may not know they have without playing soccer.
Casey says she wants to bring something new to the school. “It's bringing so much more to players who have never been on a team before,” says Casey. The Wildcats witnessed history last week as Michael Brown scored the first ever goal in KCHS Soccer history. Casey sees a future in her athletes and obviously cares about them as she speaks very highly of them. “It's so much more than a game with a ball and your feet,” she said.
