Best Ways to Relax

Posted

Whether it was at work or at home, the stress of everyday living can cause you to turn to food as a means of comfort or a way to relax. This type of behavior can have a negative effect on your health. So, what can you do to relax after a hectic day?

*Journal

Keeping a journal is a great way to record the events of your everyday life and a way to relieve stress. Reflective writing helps you deal with those negative feelings.

*Walk

Go walking. It does not matter what time of the year it is. You can walk. Nature walks are great for the summer, spring, and fall. Walking is low impact exercise that can help to lower your blood pressure, help you manage your weight, and decrease your chances of developing Type II diabetes.

*Read

After a busy day, do you want to escape to a faraway place? Well, grab a book. A good book can help you escape from the pressures of your day. Reading offers a soothing distraction.

*Mediate

Mediation is another way to relax. One of the easiest ways to meditate is to find a place where you will be free of any distractions. Choose a comfortable sitting position, partially close your eyes, and clear your mind. Begin to slow your breathing. Once this is done, focus on breathing in and out. Do this for about 10 to 15 minutes. As simple as this may sound, it will help you to relax.

*Watch Your Favorite Show or Listen to Music

Watching your favorite television show or listening to music may not be as healthy as walking, but they are a way to relax after a stressful day.
