A different kind of Easter

Posted

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?" Romans 8:35

We live in a world of uncertainty. Where do we put our trust? In banks? In governments? In people? As a child of God, we can live in absolute certainty that nothing-nothing can ever separate us from our Father's love.

Last Sunday was Easter, we didn't get up at 5, and attend the always inspiring 7:00 sunrise service. We didn't as a church family enjoy the wonderful breakfast that is usually prepared by some of the younger church members. This year everyone stayed home. Everyone except our pastor and his wife. They alone were at the church on Sunday morning. He was in the pulpit and she was at the piano. We as a church family will receive a tape of the Easter Service, courtesy of our pastor. We appreciate this wonderful gesture of our pastor, Rev. Barker and Mrs. Barker.

Have you noticed that in times of peril and worry, many people become more caring and considerate of fellow human beings? I've been thinking about this, a lot lately. Does this mean that when all the nations of the world are in dire trouble, when life as we have always known it becomes uncertain, we let go of dislikes of certain people or nations and become apart or become united in a fight for survival. There are many countries of the world, that we as Christians, can't share their beliefs, but at a time like this, we can pray for them. At Christmas, we often hear the phrase, "God is the reason for the season." I'm convinced that God is trying to tell us all that the world's morals have become so corrupt that we must turn back to God before it's too late.
