After nearly six months, students are back on the campuses of Kemper County schools.

Special grilled treats for Labor Day holiday

A time to relax, visit friends, play games, and of course eat. While you are grilling, try slicing vegetables and grill them, too. You can use a grill basket, or a sheet pan, or even do kabobs with them.

Kemper County’s number of infections from the Coronavirus Pandemic increased by n10 in the past week.

EMCC hires school nurse on campus

SCOOBA — East Mississippi Community College has hired Kemper County native Amy Ivy to serve as the college’s school nurse and to oversee infection control procedures to minimize the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Buses provide hotspots

The Kemper County School District has seven new wifi hotspot buses that are being used to provide internet access to students and families in the school district.

Ways to teach by doing in the kitchen

 In the last couple of weeks,  we have been doing virtual learning with our grandchildren.It has been a lot of fun. Not only are they doing the assignments from the school, but I'm throwing my two cents in. I am a retired teacher and just can't help myself.We are learning measurement and fractions when we cook. We will find a recipe, gather the ingredients, and measure out each in separate bowls.

Safety important in return to school

Welcome back to school! While we may be starting this year off with some distance between us, we couldn’t be happier to see students getting back into their (virtual) classrooms, reconnecting with old friends, making new ones and getting to know their teachers.

Rams open season at Wilkinson Academy

The Kemper Academy Rams open their 2020 eight-man football season on the road Friday night when they visit Wilkinson County Academy.

Supervisors set public hearing for budget

The Kemper County board of supervisors set a public hearing for Friday, September 4, concerning the FY 2020-2021 county budget.

SCOOBA — Dr. Cameron Huxford and registered nurse Kathleen Hilbun with OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville tested 101 East Mississippi Community College students for COVID-19 Thursday afternoon at the college’s Scooba campus in a community outreach effort to help prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.
