The Kemper County football team geared up for its 2020 season opener with a 19-0 jamboree victory over Leake Central last Friday.

Kemper County will be back in action this Friday when it hosts West Lowndes. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. The game will be played at East Mississippi Community College.

Quarterback Aaron Steele threw for three touchdowns and completed 9-of-10 passes for 183 yards.

Jamar Grace caught a 65-yard TD pass from Steele. Ty Steele caught a 20-yard TD pass and Janari Scott caught a 25-yard TD pass.

“It was a good start,” Coach Ray Ray Westerfield said. “We saw some good things and there are things we are going to have to improve on.

“West Lowndes beat Kemper last year and we want to even that score. They have good athletes and they run and pass the ball well. We have to be ready to play,” Westerfield said.
