A man suspected in a shooting death in Kemper County earlier this month was found dead in his jail cell Sunday night.

A 17-year-old man was charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of Trent Clemmons, 29, of Philadelphia. His body was found alone in his cell around 8 p.m.

Clemmons was found by the Kemper County sheriff’s department July 15 on a side road off of Highway 495. He was deceased and had two gunshot wounds to his head.

Authorities later found Clemmons’ car under a bridge, not far from where his body was found.

According to reports, two other people are facing accessory after-the-fact to murder charges, Michael Robinson, 25, and Isaiah Dixon, 19. It is believed everyone involved is related. All are Native Americans.

The Kemper County sheriff’s department, the Neshoba County sheriff’s department, the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians police department and the FBI are all investigating the crime.
