Supes approve repair projects

The Kemper County Supervisors approved motions for various repair projects for the upkeep of county buildings Monday during their regular meeting.

Supervisors approved a motion to repair the metal roof at the Ruby Rankin Farmers Market Building at a cost of $41,000.

They also approved a project for the repair of the metal roof at the Emilia Resources Facility in the amount of $39,000.

Supervisors approved the installation of a two ton mini-split air conditioning unit on the south side of the Emilia building at a cost of $2,800. They also approved to replace a thermal expansion valve and weld in a new thermal expansion valve on the Lennox No. 5 package AC unit at a cost of $1,389.

In other matters, supervisors voted to:

- Approve the claims docket, the minutes from the previous meeting and the county payroll;

- Approve an order to run a legal notice concerning the extension of the contract with Carthage Ambulance Service, known locally as LifeCare (Patient Care) EMS until December 31;



- Approve an order for the rental of lights for the Scooba Christmas parade, totaling $600;

- Accepted the meal loges from the Kemper-Neshoba Regional Correction Center for the month of October;

- Replace the internet service in the court house from Vivid to AT&T;

- Approve the purchase of a new computer for Judge Gully's office at the cost of $994;

- Purchase of a half-page ad in the Multi-County Community Service Agency's program at the cost of $150. This is for the organization's annual gala and recognition banquet;

- Approve travel requests to attend the "Road Paving and Broadband Internet Expansion Project" meeting in Jackson on November 12; and,

- Approve that November 11 will be observed for county employees in honor of Veterans Day, and November 29 will be observed as the Thanksgiving Holidays.
