Supervisors added roads to 4-year plan

The Kemper County board of supervisors approved an order adding four roads to the county’s four-year road plan for calendar year 2020.

This action was taken in their September 21 meeting. Those roads being added were Mt. Nebo Road, Stennis-Cole Road, Beulah Church Road and the Helen Bolden Road;

In other matters, the board voted to:

 - Approve the minutes of the previous meeting; the claims docket and the county pay roll;

- Authorize the Board to sign all documents to consummate the purchase of the easement with the Navy on Curtis R. Purvis and Rita Purvis Gillis;

- Approve on Monday a supplement from the state in the amount of $10,000 (MS Code 25-3-2) for Sheriff James Moore. The money comes from the state and has to go through the board;

 - Approve the fiscal year end journal adjustments and interfund loans and transfers;

 - Approve an order to amend the fiscal year 2020 budget to actual;

 - Approve an order to decrease building (less than $5K) by $5,000 and increase vehicles R&M by outside by $5,000 at the Porterville Fire Station for ADA compliance;

- Approve an agreement with the Cooperative Service Agreement with USDA to include Kemper County in the 2021 Beaver Control Assistance Program (BCAP) in the amount of $7,500;

 - Approve an order to replace a 3-phase electrical disconnect that provides power to the A/C condenser located on the roof at the Courthouse in the amount of $989;

 - Approve a school bus turnaround for the 2020-2021 school year;

 - Approve the fixed assets report for the 2019-2020 fiscal year;

 - Approve paying associate membership dues to MAS for Glen Williams, Sherline Watkins, Dr. Cook and Polly Medcalf in the amount of $100; and,

 – Approve an order approving the solid waste adjusted balances for the month of August 2020.
